Pan-Seared Tuna is a flavorful change of taste if you want something sumptuous ! We found this Tyler Florence recipe for seared tuna and the combination of ingredients in the vinaigrette made these inquiring minds want to know how this would taste! So, we gathered the ingredients so we could complete our task at hand.
I adapted this vinaigrette recipe to be a little more specific with amount of each of the ingredients. I mean, how much is half of a jalapeno? It depends how big it is, right? It’s all relative to size. Rather than guessing, you now have exact measurements to take out the guesswork we used the first time we prepared it. Even though I’ve substituted 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes for the jalapeno(1T) in my second attempt in this recipe, either could be used, depending on what you have available.
In our first attempt, finely diced jalapeno was used in place of the red pepper flakes.
Add oil to the pan once a drop of water skips across the pan and sear tuna for about 1 minute per side. Drizzle about half of the vinaigrette on top while the second side is searing. Be aware, it will probably smoke up quickly, so be prepared to open up windows and put on the fans once(before) this vinaigrette is added to the skillet. If the weather is conducive, try doing this on the grill! Warmer times are coming; perhaps the next time we make this, it will be an outdoor version. Stay tuned! That would definitely take care of the indoor smoke issue!
Remove the Pan-Seared Tuna from the skillet to a cutting board and slice.
I split this 8 ounce Pan-Seared Tuna in half and shared it with my hubby. Eating should be an experience to share with those you love <3 . The remaining vinaigrette was drizzled over the two plates including about a half of a sliced(or diced) avocado. It was incredible. If avocado isn’t your thing, then maybe you could wilt some spinach with a little vinaigrette, placing the sliced tuna on top. Although both could be an option as well.
