Creamy Macaroni and Cheese

This comfort food is a family favorite . Serve it as is or bake it for a few minutes for a golden-cheesy appearance.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound elbow macaroni
  • 4 c milk
  • 1/2 c butter (1 stick)
  • 1/2 c flour
  • 1-2 t Kosher salt
  • 4 c shredded cheese -any combination of cheddar, cheddar/mozzarella, or white cheddar

Instructions

  • Cook pasta to al dente stage. Drain, rinse with cool water and set aside.
  • Heat milk in large glass measuring cup for 3-4 minutes in the microwave.
  • In a large sauce pan, or Dutch Oven, melt butter over medium heat.
  • Whisk in the flour. Continue to whisk for about 3 minutes.
  • Add in the warmed milk and whisk constantly until it coats the back of a wooden spoon.
  • Stir in one teaspoon of salt.
  • Remove pan from the heat source and blend in the cheese.
  • Gently stir in cooked macaroni until thoroughly coated.
  • Serve as is or bake in 350°F oven for about 20 minutes to golden the cheese.
