Need a quick family-friendly meal? This is a favorite of my grandchildren and adults alike! You may need to double this recipe I adapted slightly from Natasha's Kitchen blog.
Saute onion in olive oil until translucent over LOW heat. Stir in garlic until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
Add in ground beef. Crumble and cook until no longer pink over MEDIUM heat.
Stir in Kosher salt, black pepper and mayonnaise over LOW heat. Once mayo is no longer visible, remove from heat.
Slice package of rolls in half horizontally; do not separate rolls. Place lower half in lined baking dish.
Layer the sliced cheese onto the bottom layer of rolls. Cut slices to fit, if needed.
Spread hamburger mixture on top of cheese leaving a small border.
Next, spread shredded cheese over the hamburger.
Place top half of rolls on top and brush melted butter on the top. You may sprinkle sesame seeds on top or seasoning of your choice.. I used Italian seasoning on mine.
Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes or until cheese is melted. Once out of the oven, slice into the individual rolls for serving. Enjoy! *(see note below)
Notes
These can be made ahead of time and refrigerated until ready to bake. The baking time may need to be extended for 3-5 additional minutes to compensate for this chilling time.
