  • 1/4 t crushed red pepper flakes You may use 1 T finely diced jalapeno
  • 1 t grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 t finely minced garlic
  • 1/4 c freshly squeezed lime juice, about 2-3 limes
  • 1/8 t sugar
  • 2 T extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 T low-sodium soy sauce
  • 6-8 oz tuna steak
  • 1/8 t each sea salt and freshly ground pepper
  • 2 T extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 avocado, sliced or diced

Instructions

  • Combine the first 8 ingredients in a small bowl or glass measuring cup.
  • Heat  stainless skillet to medium high.  Once a drop of water skips across the pan, add the remaining oil.SPINACH(if using): While you are waiting, place another skillet on the stove with the spinach. Pour about half of the sauce over spinach and cook on medium low until just wilted. Remove from burner.
  • Place tuna in pan and sear each side for about one minute.
  • Pour about half of the sauce over the tuna and remove pan from burner.
  • Remove tuna from pan and slice on a diagonal. Drizzle any juice from the pan over the tuna once cut.
  • Place tuna on top of wilted spinach and serve. Brown rice or some quinoa would be great as a side!
